Sunday Surfing A Forum

Rainy days are good for staying inside and catching up on work!

I am currently working on an assignment for my Reading and Writing Arguments course. We chose a forum at the beginning of the semester to analyze and dissect its user arguments. After much deliberation, I decided to browse around the video game forum for Stardew Valley.

Created by Chucklefish Games, Stardew Valley is a multi-platform, role-playing game, also known as "RPG" in the gaming world. The game has been released for the PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Stardew is fun because it is simple. As a player, you run a farm, develop friendships with the local townspeople, raise animals, forage for fruits and other items, mine for special gems, and most importantly, have fun! There's really no end to what a player can accomplish in Stardew Valley.

I have personally played the game on my PS4, and it's quickly become one of all-time favorites. It's stress-relieving as a college student; however, it's also been fun to analyze what other users have been saying about the game.

As a future graphic designer, I want to dissect not only the arguments in the forum, but also what users love and hate about the game itself. What are users looking for in a video game design-wise? How can I apply that to my own designs? What can I do to improve my own designs to appeal to a wide variety of people, like the creators of Stardew Valley did?

I can't wait to dive even further into this forum and learn more about Stardew Valley!
